Step Out of the Boat and Surrender
“Then said I ‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.’ but the LORD said to me: ‘do not say, I am a youth, for you she'll go to all whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord (Jeremiah 1:6-8).”
Sometimes, God tells us to do something; maybe something big, maybe something small, maybe an anointing he's placed upon us, and our initial reaction might be the same as Jeremiah! Me Lord? Me? I can't because…XYZ…. We might get in the mindset of carnal thinking, and that we don't have the skills, knowledge, experience, finances, whatever it might be. Or like Jeremiah, I'm too young or too old. Maybe people have spoken against that very thing that God told you to do. But God says, do not say (think) that! We don't need the skill, experience, etc. We need the Holy Spirit to lead us, guide us, teach us, forge st in the fire. We need to step out of the boat and tell God, “Yes Lord for you are with me!”
The Lord goes on to tell Jeremiah, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the Nations and over kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and throw down, to build and to plant (Jeremiah 1:10).” God told him, that he put His words in his mouth; so Jeremiah didn't have to know what to say, he just had to surrender and obey. He did nothing but surrender, obey, trust God and God did all the work in him and through him.
So if there is something God is calling you to that you feel unqualified for, great! You don't have to be qualified! Be pure in heart, trust in God, surrender and watch Him do what only he can do! You were created with a purpose. Ask him what it is he would have you do, and ask him to help you surrender!
