Come to the Father With a Heart of Repentance

In the beginning of September, the Holy Spirit gave me a dream on repentance.

In this dream, I was sitting on a hardwood floor in the middle of a room, and I was of adolescent age.  As I looked to my right there was a beautiful, majestic, bold, yet peaceful lion there and I knew that that lion was Jesus. He was talking to me, and although he was a lion he spoke as a man. In between us I looked down and there was a heart made out of carved wood. It was beautiful craftsmanship and it had something written on it which I can't remember. I knew that it was from Jesus and meant his love for me and his heart. I picked up the heart and marveled at it; not only for its beauty but for it's meaning and that Jesus gave this to me. All the while he was still talking to me. Then he was telling me to repent for myself and for my family.

When I woke up, the first scripture that came to me was on how a spouse is saved by a believing spouse. The next thing that came to me is the scripture of Love covers a multitude of sins. The wooden heart represents the cross, which was wooden, and that is where his love (heart) poured out and covered our sins.  Luke 10:19-20 says, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.  Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”  So we know that Jesus has given us spiritual authority to defeat the enemy in His name, for His glory and to fulfill His purpose.  We need to use that authority, and He is telling us how!  If your bank account has sufficient funds to purchase groceries, yet your fridge and cupboards are empty and rather than use the provisions in your account you allow yourself to starve because there is no food in your house, does the funds in your account do you any good?  You have the means to fix the problem, but you are not using those means and allow yourself to starve; which could have been avoided.

The same goes for the power that Jesus has given us!  Will you allow the provision He has given you to just sit there, or will you call upon His name and fight with the Sword of the Spirit to defeat the darkness? Mark 16:17-18 says, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”  We need to cast the evil out!  We need to take up serpents and have Faith that the Holy Spirit is using us to do the work, and we will not be harmed! Jesus has given us spiritual authority. 

In this dream, I believe that the repentance He is talking about is not only for our family in our bloodline and spouses; although it is it is not only for that.  No, it is for our church family as well.  For our Brothers and Sisters in Christ. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”  Repent and stand in the gap church, stand in the gap for those who don’t know they’re in sin! Stand in the gap for those who are lukewarm and need to be pulled back in.  Stand in the gap for your prodigals and your lost loved ones.

When He talks about repentance, what it will do when we repent is bringing that sin to the light and bringing it to Jesus. The enemy wants that sin to hide but we are bringing that sin in Repentance for them with the Spiritual Authority that Jesus has given to us so that it is brought to the light and so that Jesus can work in their heart to bring them to True repentance over this sin. The enemy has a stronghold over them with the sin causing them to not be able to repent over it. But Jesus wants us to say repentance for the sin and lay it at Jesus's feet to pierce the enemy and to bring this to the light. So we are repenting as a blow to the enemy's stronghold that is currently stopping their repentance.  That is currently holding bondage over areas, over people’s hearts.  We are fighting against the principalities, and repentance is key!

Last night, as I went into prayer and worship before our prayer night at church, The Holy Spirit brought me back to this dream, and laid on my heart to repent for the sins and bloodshed in our nation on behalf of the church.  During worship I felt drawn to the altar to repent and pray as He had laid on my heart.  As I kneeled at the altar with a heart of repentance and asking him to save our land, I held my hands up to him, reaching for him.  I then felt intense heat and the fire of the Holy Spirit in my hands. The flames were so strong, they seemed maybe 2 feet wide and 6 feet tall in each hand.  As I made my way back to my seat, our Pastor handed me the microphone to pray.  I cried out a deep prayer of repentance and laid it all at the feet of Jesus while saying it out loud and the congregation praying along in agreement and repenting along for the church as well.  Then person after person who came to pray each had the same inclination from the Holy Spirit, to humble ourselves and repent on behalf of the church as a whole.

So I encourage you today, stand in the gap!  Pray a prayer of repentance!  Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what to pray.  Here is a prayer to start you off:

I come to the feet of Jesus and lay (xxxxxx) that (my child, family member, spouse, church as a whole) has done and I stand in the Gap and plead the blood of Jesus over this sin to bring it to the light. With the authority given to me by Jesus, I cancel any legal agreement with the enemy in the spiritual realm that this may have caused. It is written that love covers a multitude of sin and I love (my child, family member, spouse, brothers and sisters in Christ, my nation) and pour my love over them. I bind all spiritual attacks and send every unclean Spirit off of their life, (or off of territory) to the pit by the blood of Jesus. Holy Spirit I ask you to fill them with you and seal them up against future attacks. Send an angel of conviction to them. Give them a heart of repentance for them to repent themselves on what I laid at your feet. And let the repentance for them that I brought into the light, cause the enemy to no longer hide it and have a stronghold over them with this. I come boldly to the throne room and surrender this to you in Jesus name, Amen
