We must spread the gospel and tell people about Jesus. Sometimes it can get discouraging when people reject it, and don’t want to hear what you have to say. Still, you must continue on and don’t give up!
In Matthew 13:3-9, Jesus tells us the parable of the sower. We learn that the sower threw seeds by the wayside. Some of those seeds were eaten by the birds. Some seeds fell on rocky ground and sprang up right away; but, they were scorched with the sun since there were no roots and they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns and the thorns sprang up and choked them. But other seeds fell on the good ground and yielded a crop.
Jesus says, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear (Matthew 13:9).” When we tell others about Jesus, sometimes it will not be received by them at all, these are the seeds eaten by the birds. Sometimes it will appear it was received; they liked the message but they didn’t let it take root in their heart. So, when their normal activities and way of living presents itself, the message fades away as it was never truly in their heart. Then sometimes, the person who received the message will have people in their lives that are thorns in this parable. Those people will ”choke” the message out of them in various ways until the message of the gospel has gone from them completely. But then there are those who yield and surrender. Who let the gospel take deep root in their heart. Who live a life of surrender and consecration, whose lives change and they pick up their cross and follow Jesus. These are the ones that yield a crop and show it by their fruit, and begin to fan the flame with sowing seeds to spread the gospel. These are the ones whom Jesus was referencing when He said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear (Matthew 13:9).” We might not know who those are that actually do have ears to hear; but, we must sow the seed. We must share the good news so that they can hear it. If they don’t receive you, do not be discouraged, for a servant is not greater than his master. How many didn’t receive Jesus!! Shake the dust off your feet, and go to the next town.
