Tongues of Fire

The Lord will give us the words to speak when we need them.  As an example, we are told of Stephen being filled with the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit giving him the worlds to speak in Acts 6:10.  It says, “And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.”  Another example would be in Acts 4 with Peter, “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them… (Acts 4:8).”

It is so important to know the word of the Lord. To spend time with Him, in His word, in His presence and surrounded by His glory. When we read His word we don't want to do it to just check off a box, but we should be doing it to know His heart, to spend intimate time with Him, to get to know who He is; His character and ways, and to let His word transform us.

Before you read his word, invite his presents to come. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to be with you as you are reading. Ask for the Father to give you understanding and for him to sow his word deep within you. Ask him to let you use it for his glory and to be able to speak with tongues of fire.

On April 17, 2024 I was praying for the Holy Spirit to give me tongues of fire to speak when He would need me to speak, with wisdom and knowledge and by His word.  Then I began to smell a beautiful sweet heavenly aroma all around me.  I thanked the Lord for hearing me and answering my prayer.  The Word says, ask and you shall receive (Matthew 7:7), you have not because you ask not or ask amiss (James 4:2-3).

Shortly thereafter on April 28, 2024 we had a report from Belgium at our church.  He asked me if he could ask me some questions, to which I agreed.  Before I could even think of what to respond to him with, the answers just flowed out of me.  It was what the Lord wanted him to know and to hear.  I just heard myself saying, “It is written….” followed by scripture flowing out, time and time again for each question. This was the answer of prayer, to speak with tongues of fire and let His scripture, His knowledge, His wisdom flow out of me and be used for His glory.  What was great was at one point, one of the things that were said stopped him in his tracks and I can see he was thinking about it and it was doing something within him.  The Lord will go after the One, and He knows exactly what to say to pull them out of the fire and into His glory. Towards the end of our conversation “I” said, “we need to consecrate ourselves to God, the Word of the Lord says draw near to Him and He will draw near to us.”  Then we sang this in our worship song!  I know the Lord really did a work in that reporter’s heart that day, thank you Jesus!

I share this to encourage you to spend time with Him, to long for Him!  To have a fire deep within you to do His work for His glory, to be the one that says “Here I am Lord, send me.”  Acts 10:34 says, “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.”  Jesus is looking for willing vessels who will die to themselves, pick up their cross and follow Him; for the harvest is ripe but the workers are few.  We have to die to ourselves to be filled with Him. So, pray and ask the Lord to help you die to yourself and to fill you with Him!  If you have a full glass of apple juice, you can't fill that glass with orange juice until the apple juice is emptied from the glass.  In the same manner you need to empty yourself, surrender to the Lord and let him fill you with the Holy Spirit.
